"Those who look for the laws of Nature as a support for their new works collaborate with the creator"

This a 3rd year residential architecture project, I was asked to design the residential complex in front of the Sagrada Familia church, in this manner to create the dialog between XIX an XIX architecture.

In this project I was aiming to create a well-organized structure based on orthogonal grid that is opposite of Gaudi’s design main idea: “There are no straight lines or sharp corners in nature. Therefore, buildings must have no straight lines or sharp corners.” In the work below I was trying to achieve the complexity of Gaudi’s work with means of conventional construction systems.

The Sagrada complex is a variation of the Cerda’s city block (130m x 130 m), the diversified heights of the Sagrada’s complex blocks and the specific structure of its plan is create to allow as many tenants as possible to see the Gaudi’s masterpiece.
